It is about 9 kms trek which starts from Mcleodganj, the place famous for Dalai Lama’s residence in exile. While trekking, one can witness vibrant Tibetan cultural monuments including splendid monastries, prayer flags and wheels. Situated at an altitude of 3800 m in the Dhauladhar Range of Kullu district, the Beas kund trek is about 16 kms from the Solang Nallah of Manali. One can easily cover this trek in 2 days since it is not very strenous. Surrounded by some mighty peaks including Hanuman Tibba, Ladakhi peak, Manali peak, Muker beh peak, Sheti Dhar peak, and the Friendship peak, Beas kund offers an opportunity to have a view of cascading waterfalls on the way. Dhundi, the birth place of River Beas lies amidst the wood od deodar and oak, where one can spend the night at the campsite and enjoy the nature at its best far away from the hustle-bustle of the city.
Located at an altitude of 8,960 ft and about 49 kms away from Mandi, Prashar Lake is surrounded by the imposing Dhauladhar ranges in Kullu Valley. A three storied ancient Pagoda structured temple dedicated to Sage Prashar on the edge of holy lake amidst which lies an ever moving miniature island is the most fascinating and interesting thing about the Prashar Lake. Offering the breathtaking 180 degree view of the Dhauladhar, Pir Pinjal and Kinnaur mountain ranges, this stupendous trek starts from Baggi village which is about 8 kms from Prashar lake. Passing through scenic view of dense forest of long pine trees and beautiful hills, the trekkers mostly take 4-5 hours to reach the Prashar lake.
Providing a thrilling experience of trekking, Dainkund is the highest peak located at altitude of 9000 ft in Dalhousie of Chamba district. As the name suggests, it was believed that the Dainkund peak was inhabited by the witches. Also known as the singing peak, Dainkund offers an easy and short trek of about 4 kms leading to Pohlani Mata at the top. Starting from the entry gate of Indian Air Force Base which is 12 kms away from Dalhousie, this trek passes through the numerous pine, oak and deodar trees, where one can hear the pleasant music produced by the breeze blowing through the trees.
Offering a spiritual experience alongwith an adventurous excursion, Hatu peak is located at an altitude of 12000 ft and is the highest peak in the Shimla district. The Hatu Mata temple dedicated to Mandodri, the wife of King Ravana rests atop the Hatu peak. It is 7 kms trek starting from Narkanda and passing amidst the lush green forests of deodar, fir, spruce, cedar and blue pine to the peak.
